Friday Evening, April 28, 2017, 4:00 PM Until 8:00 PM.
We are trying something different this time around for the Friday night entertainment! Tucson is blessed with some very creative talent that we would like to share with a wider audience. We are featuring some very talented singer/songwriters for our Friday night show. This will be a free concert as our way of giving back to the community of Marana, and also to introduce artists you might not normally see, but who play out and about Tucson.
First up will be Marilyn Ryan and her partner in rhyme, Bob Nible. Marilyn has a lovely CD of original tunes and I’m sure she will be playing from this work for you. Bob has forgotten more songs than most of us know, he also knows more chords than we knew existed!
Rudy Cortese is a master of the banjo, he has been writing his own material for decades, and well, we just want to hear those songs! Rudy is a true busker in the best way, full of humor and inspiration. Next up will be Don Armstrong. His roots go back to Greenwich Village folk years. He met and played with many well known names in the field. Don’s voice, taste and especially his flailing banjo is what made us want to include this gentleman in our show. Peter McLaughlin has been a fixture in Tucson and Arizona for decades. His bio is impressive. We wanted to hear Peter’s original songs in a more stripped down version (his band has two shows at the festival, so don’t worry all you Dog Fans!) so he agreed to be part of the songwriter night, his accompanists will be a surprise to all of us, and probably him also!
